Your measurement choice

This browser only

Turn off measurement without affecting how the website works.

Page visits and performance. No advertising profiles.

JavaScript is needed for this control. Without it, no measurement runs.

We store only your opt-out in this browser until you clear it or switch back on. It does not identify you, sync across devices or remove visits already counted.

Website measurement

When enabled, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to improve this website’s content and performance. It measures page visits, referring sites, browser and device information, approximate country and page timings.

The script sets no cookies, creates no device fingerprint and does not track you across websites. Cloudflare receives your IP address with the request and says it discards it at its nearest data centre.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in improving the website, balanced against your rights. We rely on the statistical-purpose exception under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. You can object using the switch above; we also honour Global Privacy Control.

Cloudflare keeps complete measurement data for seven days, then a reduced sample. Reports are available for up to six months. See Cloudflare’s data retention information.

When you contact us

We use your email address, message and attachments to respond to your enquiry. Our email provider processes this correspondence for us. Please do not send sensitive information we do not need.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in answering enquiries, or taking steps at your request towards a contract or performing that contract. We delete correspondence when it is no longer reasonably needed for the enquiry or a related legal obligation.

Hosting & providers

GitHub Pages hosts this site. GitHub and network providers process technical requests, including IP addresses, to deliver and secure it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests in providing and protecting the website.

GitHub, Cloudflare and our email provider may process information outside the UK. Where we are responsible for a restricted transfer, we use an adequacy regulation or contractual safeguard, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum. Contact us for a copy of the relevant safeguard.

We do not sell personal information or share it for advertising. We may disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights.

Your rights & contact

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, delete, restrict or receive a portable copy of your information. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests and request a summary of our balancing assessment.

Email liam@northernsoftware.co.uk with a privacy request or complaint. We normally respond to rights requests within one month; we will explain any permitted extension. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
